Everyone might wonder what torrents are !! A torrent is basically a file that has been compiled and is open for download. The file gets transfered through a system of seeds and leechers. A seeder helps give the file to the leechers. Meaning that if you have the more seeders giving the files to the leechers, your going to have a quicker download. A leecher is the person who is downloading the file. This is done with the help of torrent clients.
The BitTorrent protocol was made mainly for temporarily very popular files - for example when a new movie or music album comes up. The download speed increases proportionately to the number of users downloading the same file and that is the biggest advantage of torrents.
When you are downloading something through torrent, you share your already downloaded part at the same time (for this reason you break the law in most countries when you are downloading illegal data). When you start downloading, your application contacts a "tracker" server, which co-ordinates all clients (other users' applications). From the tracker the application finds out where to download from, which parts have the other users already downloaded and so on. Also your application informs the tracker about what part you were able to download until now - and by that it gives it at other users' disposal.
Why Is My Download Slow?

The speed at which you download is determined by things such as the Seed to Peer ratio, the seed(ers) upload bandwidth and of course your available download bandwidth. Try to download torrents that have lots of seeders and/or fewer peers in order to get faster speeds.
Torrent clients
There is a large amount of free applications, that are able to download with torrents. You can choose here from the most commonly used (and also the best, they're most used for a reason).some of them are :
uTorrent
The most commonly used torrent client. It is very popular for its simplicity, reliability and also its size - only around 200KB. It has a very nice web site, including extensive forums - if you have any problems. The clear choice for newbies! The "u" at the beginning of the name means micro, they rather use "u" because it's easier to write and there are no problems with encoding. download utorrent
Azureus
Another very favourite client, written in Java (You need to have JRE installed, but that is very common)। It is highly customizable, whilst it has no complicated controls. This application is open-source. The program's logo is the Blue Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates azureus). The Azureus name was given to the project by co-creator Tyler Pitchford, who uses the Latin names of poison dart frogs as codenames for his development projects. download azureus
